Addressing the issue of owning exotic tropical house plants for the average urban apartment and office dweller to promote interest in nature and a happy environment for both plants and people.
There is a thriving market for tropical indoor plants, but tropical plants require a different habitat than what average homes provide.
I aim to make owning tropical plants easier for apartment dwellers.

I first researched existing solutions and surveyed plant enthusiasts, collecting over 200 responses.
The aim was to clarify plant owner issues, where houseplants are kept in apartments, & tropical plant interest.
With my findings, I brainstormed solutions. For validation of my concepts, I interviewed RIT's campus botanist, an expert environmental industrial design professor, and electrical/mechanical engineering graduate students.
Based on the result of my research, I narrowed my scope to making a semi-automatic home-goods aesthetic enclosed tropical plant biome around a $300 price point.
